On the eleventh day, it's going to be K and I targeted Kuwait. While all Arabian cuisines are almost similar in their cuisines, the spices differ a bit and the way it is served. I settled on a sweet and was trying hard to check out something else. I did come across a Zaatar Pita sandwich, however, that was so elaborate and I didn't have time. So I had to go back to make this at the last moment.
While my entire week 2 was done, K was the only left alluring me. So it was finally done now or never a situation when I got my kids to bed and then ventured into making this recipe from yasalamcooking site. Some part of the recipe wasn't clear to me, though I just went ahead doing it. It's almost like Besan Laddu, done differently. Khabees is a traditional sweet dish commonly made in the UAE and Kuwait. It can be made with brown flour, semolina, or chickpea. The recipe I referred to was made with Chickpea and hence called as Khabees Al Nikhi. I understand Al Nikhi means Chickpea flour.
When I actually set out to make, the recipe was hardly 10 mins worth of time. Of course if you are making huge quantity, it's time consuming. I made with just a cup of flour, later had to add in more flour as the sugar syrup was excess. The final touch is rolling these balls in sesame seeds and it's sort of nutty after you bake it.
I packed it for my daughter's friends as well, as they have said they also wanted to taste all the dishes. So whichever can stay for the next day, gets packed. I even took for my friends and they all enjoyed it. One was confused if it was cooked fully, while one said it was little burnt. I had roasted it little more than required, I felt it added more nutty flovour.
Anyway here comes a simple and easy sweet from Kuwait!

These do look like our besan laddu with light difference in preparation. Rolling the laddu in sesame seeds and then baking it is a nice twist. Nice recipe for the country.
